Zakiya Helm

Zakiya Helm is a class of 2024 from Newburgh, New York. She is currently studying physics and astronomy and plans on exploring politics and activism within her community. She began dancing at her local Boys and Girls Club at 3 years old, and took classes in ballet, tap, and jazz for many years. During middle and high school, she attended competitions around the northeast and went to dance workshops in NYC. In high school, she choreographed a hip-hop piece for the dance department’s spring production and joined her high school’s dance team during her senior year. Her favorite styles are hip hop, tap, and modern dance. Some of her other interests are cartoons, comics, baking, and painting. Zakiya is so excited to continue exploring dance and joining the BodyHype family!
