We asked our newbs what they loved most about bodyhype and their favourite moment so far and heres what they said…

Belle Wu, Class of ‘25

The people!!! Everyone is super supportive, which really helped me feel like I belong on this campus as a lost freshman last semester, and this semester I feel comfortable with trying new things as a choreographer and a dancer because of the environment within BodyHype. I adore dancing and partying with this company so much, and I have no idea how I would've survived this year if I weren't a part of such a wonderful family.

My favorite moment as a BH member was my first time doing the pre-show traditions before our Thursday show last semester. When we were all holding hands underneath the stage while the audience was already screaming, I felt happy and loved after a rough week of special relativity lectures, rehearsals, and not really studying for finals. It was very exciting to show people what we've been working so hard for, what we've all created together.

I love going to company rehearsal and seeing all the support that exists for all the pieces. When we showcase the pieces we worked on that week for the first time to the rest of the company, everybody cheers and heckles and hypes you up, and you really feel like you're dancing in a room with your family. I also had the opportunity to teach an open workshop this semester, and it was really fun to share my dance background and experiences with everybody, and it especially made me happy to see how much the other members loved my class. BodyHype is always encouraging you to take risks and go out of your comfort zone, and I constantly find myself inspired by the other dancers in the company.

Cassie Eng, Class of ‘25

People make or break a team. And there are amazing people on BH. I made a lot of my first few close friends at pton through BH, I am surrounded by talented people who inspire me, and I generally have a blast being on stage/backstage/at rehearsals with them.

Choreographing for the stage for the first time. It was a huge achievement for me and I couldn’t have done it without the support of my cast, the encouragement of the other company members, and the guidance and partnership with the best co-choreographer (@Zi Liu). It was something special being able to see your vision and creation come to life of stage and hear how the audience reacted. I am bonded to the Zassie cast for life.

BH, thank you for introducing me to Zi, Jad, Evey, Kiara, Jasmine, Theresa, Sarina, Leashell, Alina, Maddy, Zakiya, Martin, Austin, Sarah, Izzy, Kirsten, Holly, Keilly, Yuki, Bel, Ethan, Annika, Khari, Bella, Vicky, Temi, Ana, Steph, Jojo, Aliha, Vincent, Michael, Monica, Sophie, Justice…. Too many people to name. I’m so grateful to have them in my life.

I love love love the people in Bodyhype!! They have become my family on campus - I love that we get to share our love for dance together, we get to perform together, we get to hang with each other, eat bodybrunch every sunday together, study together, be goofy together, care for each other...the list goes on!

Saturday late show for this year's DIMENSION Show was SO MUCH FUN. The energy in Intime was insane!! I literally had alumni grabbing my hands and legs as I danced on stage. There is nothing that can compare to dancing with my favourite people and being able to show everyone what we have been working so hard on for the whole term. Love my BH FAM!

I love dancing so it’s awesome getting to be around such talented dancers and getting to learn from them. I also love how Bodyhype gives me the opportunity to create and explore alongside really cool people.

My favorite memory is enjoying a full rack of baby back ribs after the thursday show. I’m happy I joined BodyHype!
